Kyle is a graduate in systematic theology. He completed a B.A. in humanities and Biblical studies at Houghton College, graduating with Summa cum Laude honors. He then completed a Master of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a ThM at Boston College School of Theology and Ministry. and a Ph.D. at boston Colelge (2022).

Kyle has ministry experience in Presbyterian and other Protestant contexts in the US and Southeastern Europe. He is also committed to ecumenical and interfaith work, and has experience in anti-racist activism and conflict transformation.

Kyle’s theological work explores the intersections between spiritual practice and political systems. His dissertation, entitled “Decolonizing the Demonic: Christianity and Discernment Among Demonized Peoples,” illustrated the relationship between Christian accounts of the demonic and both colonialism and racism—noting the particular ways that Christian demonology has contributed to the demonization of black and indigenous bodies—and argues for the consequent need to decolonize Christian accounts of evil.

Kyle has participated in the Lilly Graduate Fellowship in Humanities and the Arts, as well as the Graduate Fellows program at the Clough Center for Constitutional Democracy. His writing has been published at The Conversation.com and Reading Religion.com.  

A passionate educator, Kyle possesses an interdisciplinary teaching repertoire in theology, religion, and international studies.

When not reading or writing, Kyle enjoys traveling with his partner, Joelinda, and trying new rye whiskeys.
