Theatre students win awards at KCACTF Region I

The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) is a national theater program involving about 18,000 students from more than 600 academic institutions. Boston College Theatre is part of KCACTF Region 1, and this year we had 12 student participants.

Throughout the four-day festival, our students were able to showcase their work in the areas of acting, vocal performance, stage management, scenic and sound design, and playwriting. They also had the opportunity to see and learn from fellow student work, and attend interactive workshops led by industry professionals from around New England. The amount of time and dedication it requires for our students to prepare for this festival is great, and their dedication to the theatre craft is admirable.

We are particularly proud of our four award-winners at the 2017 festival:

  • Ryan Gardner '19: StageSource Excellence in Stage Management Award
  • Kyle Hanscom '17: KCACTF Award for Achievement in Sound Design and the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas 1-Week Internship Award
  • Michael Pisaturo '17: National Ten-Minute Play Award (Region 1 Finalist).
  • Taylor Tranfaglia '18: Barbizon Award for Scenic Design (Honorable Mention)
