Biography
Stephen's research interrogates the American built environment, with a focus on 19th and 20th century environmental and industrial history. He is interested in the lifecycle of economic and cultural prominence that industries experience, rewriting how we relate to the world along the way. He is currently using transportation history to examine how industrial visions have shaped land and society across the Northeast.
