Please join us for a lecture by renowned professor of History and Cultural Studies at the Lebanese American University-Byblos Habib Malik.
Prof. Malik has published and lectured widely (in Arabic, French, and English) on the History of Ideas, Kierkegaard, Existentialism, Inter-Religious Dialogue, the Plight of Near Eastern Christians, America and the Near East, Christianity in the Secular World, and Human Rights. On the subject of Human Rights, it ought to be mentioned that Dr. Habib Malik is son of the late Prof. Charles Malik, co-author of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which will turn 70-years-old on December 10 of this year. Dr. Malik's talk at Boston College (October 4, 2018, in Devlin 101) is titled Great and Regional Powers in the Modern Middle East: Imperial Actors and their Impact on Socio-Religious Pluralism. This event is organized in collaboration with Swiss Human Rights NGO Christian Solidarity International, and cosponsored by the department of Slavic and Eastern Languages and Literatures, the History department, the program in Islamic Civilization and Societies, and the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry.
