Candice Ivy is a multimedia artist from South Carolina who explores the relationship between history, the landscape and storytelling . She received her BFA in Fine Arts from Coker College, Hartsville, SC in 1999 and her MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts University, Boston, MA in 2006. Her multimedia works have been shown both nationally and internationally and include Murmur in the Old City Jail in Charleston, SC for the Piccolo Spoleto Festival as well as Deluge at the Davis Museum in Wellesley, MA; in the Sguardi Sonori Festival in Venice, Benevento, and Frascati, Italy; at the Universidad Catolica in Santiago, Chile; as a part of Urban Occupations Urbaines in Montreal, Canada; and at the Taipei Artists Village, in Taipei, Taiwan. Ivy’s video work has been shown in such venues as Boston University 808 Gallery, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA, the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Providence, RI, and the Berkeley Small Film Festival, Berkeley, CA.
In 2015, Ivy produced a large community wide public art performance in front of the South Carolina state capitol for the Sesquicentennial Anniversary of the Civil War in Columbia, SC. And in 2016, she received the Augustus Saint Gaudens Fellowship and produced a site-specific installation for the Saint Gaudens historic site in Cornish, NH. Ivy is currently working on Songs of the South, a series of community performances throughout the Carolinas.
