Based on CASEL’s social and emotional learning competencies of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making, alongside Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, through professional learning and access to coaching, participants in the SEL Academy will learn to:
- Articulate a purpose and rationale for SEL in which they develop ashared understanding and vision for Tier 1 SEL in their schoolcommunity
- Assess current SEL practices in their school community utilizing an SEL asset-based inventory
- Set goals and develop a roadmap for implementation within the school community to meet their individual needs
- Train and support a distributed leadership model by creating confident teacher leaders to drive this initiative in their schools
- Create a community of Catholic educators who dialogue with expert leaders and teachers with demonstrated commitment to SEL
