We continue our Internship Insights series with Sarah Barrett (MBA ’24), who is interning as an associate brand manager of hot beverages at Keurig Dr. Pepper (KDP) in Burlingon, MA this summer.
How did you secure your internship?
I found the internship via a Google Jobs search. I was contacted a few days later and invited to do an initial interview with their marketing internship team, as well as a video interview. The following week I did three rounds of 2:1 interviews with various marketing directors. The day after my final interview I was offered the position! My career advisor has been wonderful. She was encouraging, kept me on track, and ensured I was supported every step of the process—from application tasks and insider tips through to my final interview, she was there to help and cheer me on.
How have your MBA studies prepared you for your internship?
I’m confident that my MBA courses will prove invaluable to me as I’ll be presented with specific and real business challenges to solve during my 10-week program this summer. This year I’ve learned how to thoughtfully and holistically approach and analyze business challenges, synthesize vast amounts of data and variables, and provide actionable recommendations and solutions.
What do you hope to gain from your internship?
My hope for this internship is that I will gain KDP-specific brand knowledge and a real understanding of how the brand management team works together and across functions to innovate, build, and maintain successful consumer packaged goods brands. I’m excited to see how consumer data is incorporated into new product development and marketing campaigns; and, finally, how environmental, social, and governance principles drive manufacturing decisions.
