In this series, we highlight BC MBA students’ summer internships, featuring their firsthand accounts of navigating internships across various industries and roles.
This summer, John Micheal (MBA ’25) is interning as a finance summer associate at Pfizer in New York, NY.
How did you secure your internship?
John Micheal: I secured my Pfizer internship through strategic networking and thorough preparation, ensuring I was ready when the opportunity arose. I actually did not attend any formal info sessions, but my career advisor directed me to people to reach out to for coffee chats. My advisor also helped me practice for interviews, giving me great feedback in the process. As for interviews, I had one on campus at BC and another round of interviews with different departments on the company’s campus in New York.
How has the first year of your BC MBA prepared you for your internship
JM: My MBA has given me a significant edge by deepening my understanding of various job aspects, especially the crucial role of networking in the workplace. It has also equipped me to tackle technical challenges, allowing me to quickly acclimate and actively engage in high-level technical discussions.
What do you hope to gain from your internship?
JM: I hope to gain practical experience, such as being able to apply all the knowledge from the plethora of case studies to real-world scenarios. In the process, I hope to further improve on both technical and soft skills. Lastly, I plan to make the most of my internship opportunity by learning and building connections from professionals within the industry.
