In this series, we highlight BC MBA students’ summer internships, featuring their firsthand accounts of navigating internships across various industries and roles.

This summer, Casey Cardon (MBA ’25) is a summer associate in the Leadership  Development Program at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.

How did you secure your internship?

Casey Cardon: I took a targeted approach in recruiting by focusing solely on the pharma industry. Before I started my MBA program, I created a list of companies I was interested in. This allowed me to take advantage of early recruiting events. Once on campus, I attended a Johnson & Johnson information session hosted by recent BC MBA alumni. I was immediately impressed by how purpose-driven the company is through its credo.

Following the information session, I began working with my career advisor to navigate the J&J recruiting process. My career advisor was extremely helpful in introducing me to BC alumni at J&J to build a network and learn more about the company. After securing an interview, I continued to work with my career advisor to prepare for each interview, with a particular focus on workshopping STAR stories and prepping for behavioral interviews.

How has the first year of your BC MBA prepared you for your internship?

CC: The curriculum has given me a more well-rounded perspective. Courses like Corporate Finance and Strategic Management have given me a better understanding of how to create strategies that impact key business results.

The professional development resources have taught me what it takes to be a strong leader. I hope to take the leadership lessons from professors and alumni guest speakers into my internship.

What do you hope to gain from your internship?

CC: I hope to gain a deep understanding of the commercial side of pharma. The industry is extremely nuanced and requires understanding how the different commercial groups work together to bring treatments to patients. My internship will strengthen my brand marketing experience and give me exposure to other commercial groups.

I also hope to develop expertise in the immunology therapeutic area.  Immunology is a key therapeutic area that encompasses diseases that impact millions of people globally. Through my internship project, I will learn what it takes to provide patients with impactful immunology  treatments.
