Major League Soccer star Alejandro Bedoya ’09 shared with Forbes his long-game strategy for a comfortable retirement and rewarding second career once his soccer days are behind him. Bedoya’s diverse portfolio includes a stake in an artist representation firm as well as a planned café importing coffee from his family’s farm in Colombia. By coincidence, another soccer alum recently attracted notice for a rapid pivot to business after a neurological virus cut short her sports career. Stephanie McCaffrey ’15, a member of the World Cup–winning U.S. women’s national team, is attending Wharton for an MBA with an eye to expanding her nonprofit for at-risk youth and creating more opportunities for women in private equity and real estate.
