#EaglesAtHome Remote Learning - Carroll School of Management

We asked Carroll School students on Instagram to send in photos of their “BC classrooms” at home—their remote learning workspaces. They responded creatively, with each photo telling a story about their lives, and our world, during an unprecedented time. Here’s a selection of images from our ongoing #EaglesAtHome series. AJ Kelly ’20, Rumson, NJ

With a photo of Boston College’s iconic Gasson Hall as a screen saver and a football signed by former Eagles running back AJ Dillon ’21 on his desk, AJ Kelly has brought a bit of the Heights to his parents’ basement in Rumson, New Jersey. (The space is in high demand, as AJ needs to share it with three siblings who are also engaged in online learning.) Sometimes the senior listens to vinyl (such as the Khalid album seen here) on his record player. As for the ball, he says, “I’ll often pick it up and toss it around,” while taking a break from his studies (Finance and Business Analytics, with a minor in theology), “but I’m careful to keep it in good condition.”
Ellie Daigle ’22, The Woodlands, TX

Accounting student Ellie Daigle sets up at poolside at her parents’ home in The Woodlands, Texas, where the weather has been warm enough to swim. “I do take swim breaks between online classes,” the sophomore confirms. Joining her in the outdoor classroom is Millie, the Daigles’ golden retriever.
Kit Popolo ’20, Dallas, TX

Kit Popolo is back in Dallas for the time being, along with her parents, Chris and Joe Popolo Jr. ’89, and her brothers, Buck ’23 and Connor. Kit carries on her Accounting for Finance and Consulting studies and art history minor from a neatly appointed antique desk festooned with flowers as well as memorabilia from her high school alma mater, Ursuline Academy, and her college alma‑mater‑to‑be.
Patrick Flanagan ’20, Harvard, MA

Senior Patrick Flanagan has moved back in with his parents and sister in the town of Harvard, Mass., to finish out his Finance studies. “I had to rearrange my [bedroom] in order to make space for the desk and to comfortably do work,” Flanagan says. “Lastly, I hung up my banner to rep BC!”
Gabby LaTorre ’21, Madison, CT

At home with her parents and brother in Connecticut, Gabby LaTorre shares the dining room table with her mother, a lawyer who is working remotely—and Phinny, the family’s golden retriever. Gabby majors in Islamic Civilizations and Societies in Morrissey College and minors in Management and Leadership at the Carroll School.
Melissa Gaglia ’20, Brooklyn, NY

Marketing student Melissa Gaglia is back home in Brooklyn, New York, where she’s taken over the old desk of her sister, Michelle ’12, who is now a medical student. As suggested by the desk décor, both sisters are big fans of New York sports teams as well as the Boston College Eagles. Melissa parried and riposted as a member of BC’s Division 1 fencing team. She also played basketball with special needs students as a volunteer at Brookline High School. “I learned how sports really bring people together in more ways than people acknowledge,” she says. “This is really what fueled my passion for sports and made me realize how it can shape me to be a woman for others.”
Chris Agugliaro ’21, Lavallette, NJ

Christopher Agugliaro has found a quiet corner for his no-frills set-up at home in New Jersey. Besides being a guitarist and a double concentrator in Accounting and Managing for Social Impact, Chris has sold ads for The Heights, assembled pads for NFL players, and served as an Ever to Excel mentor.
Rachel Drake ’23, Boulder, CO

Rachel Drake has returned to Boulder, Colorado, where she was a member of Niwot High School’s state championship-winning tennis team. Encouraged by a few motivational sayings posted behind her laptop, Rachel is continuing her studies (Marketing) remotely, 5,328 feet above sea level, so it’s hard to say that she’s left the Heights behind.
Caroline DiCenso ’21, Boston, MA

Caroline DiCenso is currently living with her parents in Boston’s West Roxbury neighborhood. She is a double major (economics and political science) in Morrissey College, and a communications and marketing assistant at the Carroll School. “It’s always been this neat,” Caroline says of her desk. “Otherwise, I have a hard time focusing.”
Drew Barksdale ’17, Solon, OH

Carroll School Assistant Director of Undergraduate Career Engagement Drew Barksdale is living in and working remotely from his parents’ house outside Cleveland. He’s taken over an underused sitting room. There, among other duties, he records the Carroll School’s career advice podcast, The BC Zoom Room. (Note the pro microphone on his desk.) Also prominent in the space: Drew’s jersey from the 2017 Pinstripe Bowl—he was a wide receiver for the Eagles.
Will Harrington ’23, Boston, MA

Will Harrington is back at home with his parents and sister in Boston’s Roslindale neighborhood. With a view of the West Roxbury Parkway out his bedroom window and a BC hat above his screen, Will especially enjoys participating in his business law course.
