Dr. Ruth Langer is Professor of Jewish Studies in the Theology Department at Boston College, Interim Director of its Center for Christian-Jewish Learning, and past chair of the Council of Centers on Jewish-Christian Relations. Langer writes and speaks in two major areas: the development of Jewish liturgy and ritual; and Christian-Jewish relations. Widely published in academic journals, Dr. Langer is also the author of three books: Jewish Liturgy: A Guide to Research(Rowman and Littlefield); Cursing the Christians? A History of the Birkat HaMinn (Oxford University); and To Worship God Properly: Tension Between Liturgical Custom and Halakhah in Judaism (Hebrew Union College Press)
