Realities and Challenges for the Accompaniment of Migrants and Refugees in Latin America and the Caribbean is a seminar series that discusses the findings of a research project sponsored by the Jesuit Network with Migrants in Latin America and the Caribbean. During three days, these seminars will discuss topics related to Diversity, Inclusion, and Accompaniment of Migrants and Refugees in Latin America; the relationship between Policy and Practices of Accompaniment in Latin American countries; and the need for interdisciplinary approaches to develop accompaniment practices with migrants and refugees.

Diversity, Inclusion, and Accompaniment: Migrants and Refugees in Latin America

This seminar discusses the profiles and needs of migrants and refugees in three different countries in Latin America. The discussion offers a reflection on the perceptions of host communities regarding the presence of migrants and refugees and practices of hospitality and the challenges of integration.

Human Rights in Practice: The Tension between Policy and Practices of Accompaniment

This seminar discusses the challenges migrants and asylum seekers face in accessing different regularization forms in reception countries like Colombia, Mexico, and Costa Rica. The discussion offers an opportunity to reflect on the right to asylum and the challenges governments face in integrating these populations in host countries.
