Scholarly Interests: Social development; family processes; children’s development; developmental processes in African-Americans and other ethnic groups; adolescent development including adolescent childbearing; research ethics.
Academic Profile:Diane Scott-Jones' current research projects focus on adolescent development, children's ethnic identity and school engagement, family processes, and socialization. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Society. She is Associate Editor of Psychological Bulletin, Associate Editor of Urban Education, and Editorial Board Member of The Journal of Social Issues. She is a former Editor of the Journal of Research on Adolescence. She was a member of the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Successful Pathways through Middle Childhood. Dr. Scott-Jones is interested in research ethics and has served on former President Clinton's National Bioethics Advisory Commission, on APA's task force to revise its ethical principles for research with human participants, and on the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Clinical Research Involving Children. She is currently Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Society for Research in Child Development.
