Assistant Professor of Comparative Theology, with expertise in Christianity and Buddhism
Description
The Boston College Theology Department announces a full-time tenure-track faculty opening in Comparative Theology, with expertise in Christianity and Buddhism, at the rank of assistant professor. Doctoral training in one of these two religions, as well as expert knowledge (including relevant linguistic competence) of the other religion is required. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate core courses on Buddhism in dialogue with Christianity, as well as more specialized undergraduate and graduate courses. Applicants should have a record of scholarship in their field and a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
This position is an appointment within the Theology Department and the successful candidate will participate fully in the academic life of the Department. The faculty member will teach two courses each semester (which by agreement with the Department Chair may include Theology Core courses, graduate seminars, or undergraduate electives) and advise graduate and undergraduate students. The tenure and promotion process will proceed through the Theology Department.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Systematic Theology
Description
The Boston College Theology Department announces a full-time tenure-track faculty opening in Systematic Theology at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Preferred specializations include spirituality, sacramentality, and embodiment. Applicants conversant with feminist theologies through an intersectional lens are especially encouraged to apply. Doctoral training in Systematic Theology is required. Responsibilities include teaching two courses each semester: undergraduate core courses in Christian theology, as well as more specialized undergraduate and graduate courses. Applicants should have a record of scholarship in their field and a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Assistant Professor of the Practice in Christian Theology
Description
The Boston College Theology Department announces a full-time faculty opening in Christian Theology at the rank of Assistant Professor of the Practice. This is a full-time non-tenure-track position with a three-year renewable contract. The position’s responsibilities include teaching two sections each year of the year-long undergraduate course “Perspectives on Western Culture,” which studies core and foundational texts in Philosophy and Theology and which fulfills the undergraduate core requirements of six credits in Theology and six credits in Philosophy. Applicants should have a strong teaching record and a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
This position is an appointment within the Theology Department and the successful candidate will participate fully in the academic life of the Department. The promotion process will proceed through the Theology Department.
This appointment will begin in July 2024, with teaching duties beginning mid-August 2024.
